The month of June will see Barcelona become the capital city of design. To celebrate, IED will be taking part in over 15 events across the city to share the very finest initiatives in design, innovation and creativity.

June is Design, June is IED.

Every Thursday in June, various undergraduate and masters students from the Fashion, Design, Visual Communication and Management for Creative Industries departments will be showcasing their creations and research during a range of key events across Barcelona.



7 June – 12 pm

Students from the Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design and the Diploma in Creative Advertising and Branding will be showing their visual communication work at one of the city’s most emblematic market halls: the Sant Antoni Market.

After a nine‑year refurbishment process, this historic place is now reopening its doors and ready to host the “Design for people. Designing for the Markets of Barcelona” exhibition, where a series of communication strategies will be presented as the students’ final projects in collaboration with Mercats de Barcelona.

Entry: Free.

Location: Espai Fossat at the Sant Antoni Market Hall.



14 June:

During the Sónar +D festival, the Creativity and Technology Congress will be the stage for initiatives by students from the IED Diploma in Business Design and the Masters in Interaction Design. The former will be conducting a user experience survey regarding the festival as part of their final projects, while the latter introduce a new digital service for users to print their own vinyl records in 3D and experience music like never before.

Visitors will also get to see three outfits by designers from IED in collaboration with The Zero Gravity Band project for the Quo Artis Foundation that will be presented during Sónar+D to explore aesthetic perception in zero gravity.

21 June – 9 pm

The annual end-of-year fashion show by Fashioners of the World will be taking place at the Disseny HUB Barcelona on Thursday 21 June at 9 pm. The outfits by students from the Undergraduate Degree in Fashion Design and the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design will be catwalked through this emblematic venue in Barcelona in front of an international audience that will award the Franca Sozzani prize to the Best Collection.

They will also be announcing the winners of the Isabel Coixet Award for Best Fashion Film and the Outumuro Award for Best Shooting.

Entry will be exclusively on invitation.



28 June:

Students from the Undergraduate Degree in Interior Design and the Undergraduate Degree in Product Design will be showing the city their final projects researching the relationship between sport and the city of Barcelona.
