IED Barcelona students finalists in the MID
IN-ASIENTO and NORA SIGNS are two projects by students from IED Barcelona that have been chosen to take part in the initiative entitled “Idea creativa busca empresa” (Creative Idea Seeks Business) within the Design Ideas Market (MID) programme. On 4 November, the students presented their projects before a jury made up of industry businesspeople. During the event, the Director of the I+ED Lab, Jorge Pérez, gave a workshop on design thinking for businesses.
The MID is an annual programme by BCD (Barcelona Centro de Diseño) that promotes creative talent. The aim of the IED’s involvement in this initiative is to build on the I+ED Lab’s activities and foster student entrepreneurship in several areas. Projects are currently being exhibited at the Museo del diseño de Barcelona (Design Museum of Barcelona).
IN-ASIENTO has been designed by Carlos Martínez, Mariano Andrés, Annika Sapper and Talia Schurmann. It consists in a bicycle seat with storage space where personal objects can be kept, which has a built-in security system to lock the bike.
NORA SIGNS is a project designed by Maria Bono, Milena Fleischmann, Mikel De Abando and Gabriela Dubelj. It comprises a series of accessories for cyclists with a system of indicator lights created using technology that is built into the material so as to guarantee enhanced signalling and safety.
