Honda Hi, by Transportation student Marc Jové, wins Honda Design Competition
The student of the Bachelor of Arts in Product Design, pathway in Transportation Design, Marc Jové, has won the 2021 Honda Design Competition with his project Honda Hi, a customisable two-wheel design for 16-year-old users.
The contest, organised by Honda R&D Europe, challenged young design talents to conceive projects contextualised in 2030, and aimed to appeal to the passion and sense of freedom of the two-wheel world for a young audience.
For the design of the Honda Hi, Marc was inspired by the needs of a hypothetical teenager from Portugal. Understanding that this user leads an active life, the design — fresh and versatile — adapts to different situations and needs depending on the time of day. In this way, it can be used as an urban vehicle to travel short distances, as a scooter for long journeys, or as a “scrambler” for medium-distance routes, combining on-road and off-road contexts.
The contest also recognised the work of another IED Barcelona student, Juan Sorzana, who was a finalist with Famil-E. He designed a two-piece proposal, a family car and an integrated motorcycle. This second vehicle is designed for the teenagers of a family that lives on the outskirts of Rome and must travel daily from their home to the city.
