WINNERS OF THE LAUS 2019 AWARDS

The Visual Communication Schooltook home 7 Bronze ADG LAUS Awards for Graphic Design and Visual Communication at this year’s edition. Six students from the Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design were prized by the jury in the Student Category.

These were the winning projects:

Project: Creo

Student: DAVID FIENE

Course: 4th Year Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design – Motion Graphics itinerary

Drawing on the idea of creating a business identity based on the designer’s own personality, David Fiene has merged community and design in a sacred workspace to reach a higher spiritual level and boost creative development. To achieve this goal, the student designed a typography that makes for endless variations without compromising consistency with Creo’s visual style. The project’s content connects all the different sectors in a simple yet effective display.

Project: SonarSoñar25

Student: Debi Hasky

Course: 3rd Year Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design – Graphic Design itinerary

The project involves a publication for the 25th anniversary of Sónar, the International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art. The word Soñar, which resembles the name of the Sónar Festival, means “dreaming” – and that is precisely the concept behind this project. Debi Hasky’s work depicts the last 25 years of the Festival in sleep cycles, providing a visual representation of its dream-like atmosphere.

Project: Lively

Student: Elena Auba

Course: 3rd Year Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design – Graphic Design itinerary

Lively is a museum especially conceived by Elena Auba to ensure adult visitors live the same experience as children. The corporate identity created by this student introduces a graphic language inspired by a dot-to-dot drawing game to create a fun picture.

Project: swsn

Student: Karyna Sakhniuk

Course: 3rd Year Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design – Graphic Design itinerary

swsn [‘swisin] is the graphic and corporate image of an art gallery dedicated to contemporary Swiss creators who are not only perpetuating the glorious tradition of classic Swiss design, but also making a unique statement in the world of modern design.

Project: Typegeist

Student: Marcos Silva Ribeiro

Course: 3rd Year Graphic Design

Typegeist is an extremely versatile and adaptable graphic identity system for a fictional typography museum and archive thought up by Marco Silva. The student’s design uses typography and its graticule as the basis to communicate the activities that take place there in a very focussed and captivating way. His project rests on a sound concept, cohesion and values to convey a sense of community, practicality and the richness of typographic design.

Project: Sónar 25-Y

Student: Santiago Restrepo

Course: 3rd Year Graphic Design – Motion Graphics itinerary

25-Y uses a publication to celebrate the impact of the Sónar Festival’s 25-year history. Having become one of the most influential and innovative events in the world, this project commemorates the imprint it has left on today’s musical experimentation scene. 25-Y was created to exalt this avant-garde festival that has turned into a unique cultural event in terms of its format and content.

Project: Unnostalgic

Student: David Fiene

Course: 3rd Year Graphic Design – Motion Graphics itinerary

Unnostalgic is a publication for the 25th anniversary of Sónar, the International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art. David Fiene strikes up a conversation with his readers and calls on them to think carefully about various topics. He uses the element of surprise and visual and conceptual contrast, with a strange and vibrant yet well-structured and digestible rhythm. The project intends to spark a debate as to the importance of time, technology and music drawing on Sónar’s distinctive nature and cultural impact.
