FOUR PROJECTS FROM IED SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2020 LAUS AWARDS
The ADG Laus Awards for Graphic Design and Communication have revealed the projects in the running to win this year’s accolades, with four projects from the IED group included on the shortlist.
David León Fiene, of the Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design, Itinerary in Motion Graphics and Video at IED Barcelona, is competing for the award in the category Student Free Work, with his branding proposal Call me Leon. The kinetic identity establishes a flexible but discreet visual language combined with a strong and expandable copy that develops the character of the German-born designer.
Quique Sainz, of the Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design at IED Madrid, within the branch of digital design, presents Method, a sketch plug-in whose main purpose is to help designers control spacing and size, thus saving time, so that they can focus on more creative tasks. It aids designers in the creation of a numerical system, based on multiples, in order to maintain certain spacing relationships.
Kike Guillén, also of the Undergraduate Degree in Graphic Design at IED Madrid, has created ASTA, a typeface that functions as an identity for the city of Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz), with the aim of building on its historical origins to generate a sense of belonging. Based on the ancient inscriptions found in the area, the project has been developed in both a digital version and also printed on ceramics, which responds to the graphic needs of the city and the collective imagination.
And last but not least, the project Bessemer / Kunsthal by the San Sebastian based design studio HUSMEE has been shortlisted for the development of the graphic identity KUNSTHAL in the Typography category. The proposal consists of a tool that enables the school to experiment typographically.
