Fifteen of Fifty Book Preview

On Thursday 8 March, as the world celebrates International Women’s Day, IED Barcelona will be holding the presentation of its book Fifteen of Fifty, introducing the major design trends anticipated between now and 2033, and discussing topics such as artificial intelligence, female empowerment, design culture, new financial systems, the role of art and much more.

Alessandro Manetti, the General Director of IED Barcelona, will be moderating a roundtable on the future of design, art, and technology featuring Francisco Jarauta, philosopher and Science Director of IED Spain; Luca de Biase, visionary and Director of the Nova supplement on innovation, future and technology for Sole 24 Ore; and Tatiana Kourochkina, cultural promoter and co-founder of Quo Artis

Alessandro will also be introducing the Deflexor 2033, a macrotrend map identifying new design scenarios. “Deflexor emerged with the goal of steering the strategies of a teaching institution towards future trends by suggesting ideas that offer potential solutions to problems through design,” reveals Manetti.

The book, published to mark the 15th anniversary of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Barcelona, explores the future of design through a selection of the school’s most exemplary projects, along with 50 interviews with former IED Barcelona students who are now professional designers, and articles written by the School’s department directors. At the end of the roundtable, a toast will be raised to the entire IED community.

The first 200 people to arrive at the event will get a free copy to take home with them.

See you there!
