Product and Interior Design students present sustainable tourism projects at BDW’21 Pro
On Thursday 10 June, IED Barcelona Product and Interior Design students will present sustainable tourism proposals for the city of Barcelona within the framework of Barcelona Design Week 21 Pro.
During this hybrid event, which will include the presence of experts from the sector, students will showcase projects aimed at rethinking tourism from the point of view of spaces, products and services, under the title ‘New Tourism — New Scenarios for a Sustainable Future’.
The proposals, created in collaboration with Barcelona Global and with the support of Barcelona Design Centre, are based on the analysis and study of future scenarios, and offer various physical and digital solutions: from recovering spaces with a view to decentralised tourism, through citizen participation actions to understand and listen to the needs of the people of Barcelona, to new gastronomic experiences.
This initiative is in line with the sector’s adaptation to new trends and innovations in a bid to maintain companies’ competitiveness and satisfy the needs of users. Further, given the ongoing COVID situation, some needs have evolved, priorities have changed, and entirely new requirements have emerged.
