Taller de Design for Innovation Strategies

27-02-2014

On Thursday February 27th, IED Barcelona will host a workshop on Design for Innovation Strategies, within the framework of the school’s Management courses. This event will consist in exploring collaboratively the user-centered innovation and design methodologies, including all actors of the value chain in the process as well.

Work will be developed in small groups that will apply design thinking tools and processes to create innovative products and/or services in a specific context. Through “learning by doing”, in this workshop will research into the potential applications of these methodologies to create value for people and for companies.

Lectured by Guido Charosky, coordinator of the Master in Innovation Strategy and Entrepreneurship of IED Barcelona and specialist in applied design and innovation, he currently holds the position of Experience Design Lead in HP.

Innovation
Using innovation as a strategic approach is a key element to guarantee competitiveness in the current economic and social environment, and an essential for any type of undertaking. Innovation shouldn’t be considered just a stage in the development of a product or service, but a pillar catalyst to enclose all processes of value creation within one company. This implies from a new way to conceive products and services to the type of client interaction.

Design
Design tools and methodologies, “design thinking” in its broadest sense, have a great potential to generate new business. The use of these tools from the innovation perspective allows to create new business models that can generate value for users as well as for stakeholders involved in the value chain.

The workshop will handle the identification of business opportunities, focusing on users and creating a conceptual proposal of a product and/or service that brings value to all actors in the value chain.
