The items designed for the Fabrica Fabrication Forward Show – a performance presented at the latest edition of The Youth Mobile Festival during the MWC – are now on display in the “Reshape” exhibition at the Design Hub Museum in Barcelona.
The exhibition will be showing from 14 March until 14 April inside the Dhub lobby thanks to the joint work of its organisers: Noumena, INDUSTRY From Needs to Solutions and Fira de Barcelona in collaboration with Materfad and backed by the Design Museum. The focus of the exhibition is the link between the human body and emerging technology, which is explored by using smart materials, bio‑compounds and 3D printed fabrics designed for the fashion and goods industry.
The dresses produced by students from the Undergraduate Degree in Fashion Design and the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design were made to measure using digital processes to generate new silhouettes, shapes and textures thanks to 3D printing and laser cutting. Their creations introduce new ways of developing design that may come to replace current systems, as well as “zero waste” alternatives to make the fashion industry more ethical and sustainable.
Also showing at the exhibition are the short-listed and winning projects from the “Reshape 18 | Sensing materialities” competition.
Dates: 14 March to 14 April
Venue: In the lobby at the Barcelona Design Hub Museum
