MY NEIGHBOURHOOD, MY DESIGN: ‘CO-’ AS A SUPERPOWER TO CREATE THE CITIES WE ENVISION
Never before have we experienced such a critical and decisive moment in defining the places in which we dream of living. The theory says that a city belongs to its inhabitants, but how can we ensure that people really participate in its transformation?
The world has the best possible resource to harness this process: the power of the collective. Along with the public sector and the academic and business worlds, we, as citizens, can also be active agents for change through dialogue and co-creation, making use of specific experiences, methodologies and instruments that connect our creativity. And, in this sense, design is a fundamental tool.
On 28 September at 6.30 pm, Bet Cantallops, Architect and Co-Founder of Saetaestudi, as well as the Coordinator of IED Barcelona’s Master in Design for Urban Environment, and José Fran García, Head of IED’s Innovation Lab, will hold a short online talk addressing these questions, which will be broadcast on IED Barcelona’s YouTube channel.
During the event, real-life experiences from Madrid and Barcelona will be shared, in which the union between associative capacity and design have brought about the development of fairer, more environmentally-friendly, inclusive and balanced surroundings.
