IED Barcelona will once again open its doors to welcome all visitors to the 48H Open House Barcelona festival that will take place during October 21st and 22nd.

Architecture lovers will get the opportunity to discover how the old Macson textile factory has been converted into the Higher Design School. For two days there will be guided tours of the building, which is the result of the rehabilitation and refurbishment of this 1952 textile factory, done by Franconi Gonzalez Architects in collaboration with the ProA Solutions studio.

For the second year, IED Barcelona collaborates with Open Sketch, an initiative to promote creativity and architecture through drawing. This Instagram contest encourages visitors to draw a sketch of one of the city’s buildings and share it on social media with the hashtags #OpenHouseBCN and #OpenSketch16. The winner will receive a grant for the Summer Course in the school and a sketching kit.

Dates: October 21st and 22nd.

Place: IED Barcelona – Biada, 11 (Barcelona).
