The Summer Course in Service Design for Innovation equips students with tools and know-how to develop innovative solutions that stand out for their usefulness and effectiveness in the field of services.
Every day, from the moment we get up until we go to bed, we are actively using a whole host of services, but many of them have not been designed with the user in mind. That is where service design comes in, providing an innovative methodology to come up with unique experiences for their target user.
During the course, students will be exploring and applying service design tools to overcome a real challenge, affording them a holistic vision of a service by touching on every stage of the process.
– Understand the problem through observation and interviewing techniques
– Reframe the problem and opportunity
– Ideation and effective brainstorming
– Prototyping an experience: Build prototypes to be tested with users
– User testing& Refinement
During this course, you will explore and make use of the tools used by Service Design and Innovation professionals and apply them to a real challenge.
With this process you will learn:
– The techniques used to better understand customers and uncover unique insights,
– How increase your ability to create unique, desirable and valuable products,
– To be able to accelerate the validation of new ideas from a user perspective,
– A common language and process that can be used to align inter-departments to the same goals.
This Professional Summer Course is designed for professionals, executives & CEO’s, from all industries and all departments, who want to become innovation leaders within their companies and be able to solve complex problems in multidisciplinary teams.
Professional working or willing to work at a strategic level will find the Service Design principles and tools being core capabilities for their competitive advantage. To address international participants, the course will be held in English.
Service Designer, consultant, trainer and facilitator. Manuela is co-founder of WePush, a Service Design consultancy that operates in Europe and South America and helps organisations and companies in the definition and implementation of meaningful services and change management.
She collaborates with Partnos by Voxel an agile consultancy that helps companies improve their operations, develop outstanding digital products and services and assist them in organizational transformation processes.
At IED Barcelona she operates as Managing Director of the Management & Design Strategies School.
