Drawing is part of a designer’s process. As guided by an illustrator, the aim of the Drawing and Sketching Techniques for Designers course is to provide students with the tools to incorporate human figures into both a space and specific action and thus help to communicate a project.
Alongside the need to reinforce and accelerate freehand drawing, 2D and 3D software combinations are provided and storytelling techniques are proposed to create scenes that can explain the content of a project.
The aim of the summer course is to set up a cognitive system that can help students to attain visual expertise with basic tools (in 2D and 3D) and to take advantage of this in the process of creating their own work.
The essential software for developing visual projects (Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp, Procreate), presentation and storyboarding techniques, the creation of a visual process of storytelling, production and post-production.
The course is predominantly based on simulating a professional studio in the classroom, where various projects are completed according to semi-real and real briefings prepared by companies. These exercises serve to practice and understand all the agents involved and thus develop the creative capacity to tackle various sector assignments.
In addition to theoretical and practical subjects, the programme includes subjects that encourage creativity and train a designer’s own way of thinking and planning.
The course is aimed at all those wishing to attain expertise on how to handle human figures in a perspective space, to learn how to draw perspective with multiple vanishing points, how to draw objects in an environment suitable for moving human figures, their main tools for producing visual projects and to have a grounding in the basic concepts of the world of graphic design.
