From the big designer brands to rank outsiders, everyone is looking to accessories to bring what they want to their textile collections. Without accessories, perfumes and cosmetics, there would be no Haute Couture or luxury Prêt-à-Porter.

It is important to understand and control the entire process of producing accessories, and know the technicians and workshops that can bring ideas to life.

This Intensive Postgraduate course is aimed at preparing specialists who have a complete vision of accessories, from their design (materials, patterns, functions, and ergonomics) to understanding the needs of the customers and the market.

This course is intended for professionals from various areas of fashion and design who wish to research innovative accessories. The objective of the programme is to provide the basic tools for developing accessory collections that include bags, leather goods, hats, textile accessories and costume jewellery, while taking into account their subsequent manufacturing and having first-hand experience of major companies in the sector that work both in and outside Catalonia.


The course combines theoretical subjects with practical workshops and includes a final project to design and make a complete collection of accessories, with its associated production and marketing viability study.

 Skills Acquired

At the end of the course, the students will have the knowledge to:

. Develop a complete accessory collection design project for a brand or their own brand.

. Choose the fabrics that are or can be used, using specific technical knowledge.

. Define a wardrobe according to the type of event or function and the structure of the accessories.

. Define the general styling for a collection and match the accessories to the general concept.

Student Profile

The course is intended for graduates with a degree in and professionals of:

. fashion design, who wish to specialise in the world of accessories.

. product design, who wish to specialise in the world of accessories.

. other disciplines, who have creative curiosity and an interest in the in-depth study of fashion accessories, with a prior basic knowledge of pattern-making and sewing.

Participants who can prove that they have a university degree can enter the programmes. Applicants who do not have the required university degree can enter some programmes on their professional merits. In this case, it is at the discretion of IED Barcelona to decide what type of certificate they will be awarded.

Irene Sierra

After obtaining a degree in graphic design in 2006 from Eina school of art and design, Irene’s first public recognition came with the awarding of the “Grand Laus estudiante 2008”.

After finishing her studies, she started working in the design industry with an internship with the Columna Group. Some months later, she joined the studio of the renowned illustrator Phillip Stanton. After one year, she decided to go to London to study illustration at the London School of Communication. When she returned to Barcelona, she undertook design and illustration projects for a number of advertising agencies, including Larsson Druprez, 4funkies and Seis Grados. At the same time, she took a postgraduate course in illustration at Eina. For the past four years, she has been working at Camper in a variety of positions, as an illustrator for the company’s footwear and handbag collections, a trend analyst, partnership coordinator with art and design schools, talent scout, graphic designer and as part of the organisation of the workshop “Son Fortesa”.

Recently, Irene Sierra started her own brand of handbags and accessories, Sila, while continuing to collaborate with different disciplines, schools and design studios.


The educational planning for all IED Master courses is aligned with the criteria established by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The IED Master program has adopted a credit structure that follows the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The IED Master is a private degree.
