Introduction

This course gives students the opportunity to study the principal research and reflection tools (both theoretical and practical) currently used in interior design and styling. In this task it is essential to consider the many deep-rooted relationships between the individual and society and the interior in which these relationships take place.

The contemporary perspective of our society has developed a need to create spaces suitable for living, work and social gatherings, and it has become an issue that we are constantly facing. This course is designed to provide students with the proper tools and criteria to face the complex challenge of “dressing” interior spaces.

It therefore offers an introduction to the theoretical concepts that are considered to be essential in present-day practice and a series of practical tools that can help to reveal the different possibilities and career paths available.

Decoración y Estilismo de Interiores

Summer Course in Interior Decoration and Styling

Objectives

The course is geared towards the exploration of a discipline that, behind an appearance of familiarity and normality, requires great knowledge and a meticulous technical command. The latest trends, relationships between colours and combinations of textures and materials are key factors in creating pleasant, harmonious spaces in tune with the needs of today’s individuals.

The course therefore aims to analyse and present a series of experiments whose aim is for the students to internalise the creative process, right from its inception to its final implementation.

Methodology

This course is organised around several fields of research: the creative process, tools for developing the discipline, and a knowledge and command of materials and trends.

Because of the need for the subjects to co-mingle, the course will consist of a series of practical exercises in which the knowledge gained in theoretical, teacher-led classes will be put into practice. These exercises will also bring the students into contact with the professional realities of the sector, which is another fundamental objective of this course.

The course is divided into a number of subjects taught by some of the best interior designers, with both theoretical classes and practical exercises. The methodology also includes visits to leading showrooms and stores.

Student Profile

The programme is addressed to students, professionals and, in general, all those interested in the field of interior decoration and styling who, either for job-related or personal reasons, require this type of training to become effective participants in an increasingly competitive and changing industry.

Applicants are required to submit a CV and a cover letter (when they do not meet the requirements, the school will evaluate each applicant on an individual basis).
