Good ideas alone are not enough in an increasingly competitive business environment. A project manager facilitates the proper coordination of the actors involved and interrelated activities, while at the same time ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness and value creation.
The CSP in Design and Project Management trains the students for establishing the structure, roles and tools that help to conceptualise, plan, control and, ultimately, successfully implement each project. This is why it includes Agile methodologies , whose greater dynamism and flexibility are creating a new paradigm in project management in which figures such as Scrum Master or Product Owner are becoming increasingly important.
Similarly, incorporating methodologies and tools from the world of design, such as the design process or design thinking, as well as skills aimed towards organisation, communication and leadership, given that these are key elements for the proper coordination of the actors involved in the activities required to fulfil the project’s objectives.
The objective of the course is to train students in the conceptual and technical tools for designing, planning, developing, controlling and implementing projects.
Students learn to manage projects in an efficient and innovative manner thanks to the various methodologies taught in the course (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, UX) in combination with the conceptual vision and tools of the design world, such as the design process or design thinking. The programme also prepares students to take the official Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) and/ or Professional Scrum with User Experience (PSU I) exam of Scrum.org, thereby managing to obtain another internationally recognised qualification in addition to IED’s Professional CSP.
Students are able to design and lead projects adapted to the activity of their professional field, as well as identifying and applying the most suitable methodologies and tools depending on the type and/or phase of the project. Group work is encouraged and promoted, so that participants test techniques and methodologies in multidisciplinary teams.
The course follows a challenge-based learning technique that consists of solving various activities linked to a fictitious situation through the resources provided in the virtual classroom. These tasks are developed autonomously by following the established delivery schedule. A specialist in each module guides students over the course of the learning process through the connect-IED platform.
The programme includes an assessment module for official Professional Scrum Master or Professional Scrum with User Experience training, depending on the student’s interest and professional development. This project is carried out in a group setting with the aim of testing and analysing the possibilities offered by the dynamics of working in a multidisciplinary team.
Students complete a research project in two phases as a framework for applying the new knowledge acquired during the course:
Phase 1: Students develop the research, analysis, ideation and general planning of a project based on the requirements of a collaborating IED company, applying all the methodologies and tools learned during the first part of the course. Once completed, students present the project to the academic coordinators and the collaborating company for assessment.
Phase 2: Students resume the previous project, carrying out its development, deployment and implementation by applying the Agile methodologies and tools learned during the second part of the course, with the aim of presenting the progress and implementation of the project to the academic coordinators and collaborating company.
The professional programme is aimed at all professionals (creative, technical, managerial and/or management profiles) who wish to acquire specific tools and methodologies for project management and design regardless of the specific area in which they perform their functions.

Admission profile: Graduates or degree holders in any discipline applicable to the business environment, designers specialising in any field, engineers, architects, marketing and business professionals. A CV and motivation letter are required for enrolment. If any of the requirements for admission are not met, the school evaluates each case individually and reserves the right to call the applicant for a personal interview.

At IED Barcelona we collaborate with selected companies so that students have direct contact with the reality of the labour market through visits, conferences and presentations.
Industrial Engineer from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, graduated with an MBA from La Salle Barcelona – New York, in addition to an Executive Education course from IESE.
He is also certified by Stanford in the Advanced Project Management Programme (SAPM), by APICS with the CPIM and by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals in Supply Chain-PRO.
Eduard has extensive experience in international operation environments and product/service launches in technology environments. In recent years, he has been leading strategy and digital transformation teams globally in customer support at HP.
He has combined his professional experience with teaching in the areas of Supply Chain Management and Project Management and he teaches in several business schools and universities.
Guillem is a Professional Scrum Trainer at Scrum.org, an Agile coach and a DevOps evangelist. He helps organisations transform from traditional ways of working to value-centric environments by exploring new ways.
He focuses on teams and people, working together in synergy with organisations and simultaneously empowering them to generate cultural change.
Guillem also has experience in software development environments, in changes to the DevOps mindset and in product management. He is enthusiastic about helping teams and organisations to improve their development practices, foster valuebased delivery, improve communication among individuals and shorten development cycles.
The educational planning for all IED Master courses is aligned with the criteria established by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The IED Master program has adopted a credit structure that follows the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The IED Master is a private degree.
