CSP in Fashion and Visual Merchandising
The CSP (Continuing Study Program) in Fashion and Visual Merchandising intends to define a professional capable of solving the problems of points of sale because of market stauration, globalisation of commerce, prices and margins declines and, also, online sales. Visual Merchandising has to stimulate clients by means of persuasive communication actions and, above all, reach the client in a different manner: emotionally. We are facing a new type of consumer.
The course provides students wih knowledge and skills to plan a “point of sale” through product analysis, presentation, study on assembly and exhibit of merchandise, always considering the need for experiences of the new consumer. It also works on the fundamentals of new marketing strategies and their application, the rules of “fashion marketing” and the figure of the product manager.
Study the new purchaser profile to offer a new concept of a Visual Merchandiser and deepen into fashion history and the current functioning of fashion products, so to understand and obtain a solid cultural foundation.
The postgraduate course program is divided in two parts:
A conceptual part, nourished with lectures by several professionals working in the different stages of the production process for a visual merchandising (interior design, retail, window dressing, fashion product and branding), and a practical part, where a study case is developed so students apply the knowledge they acquire.
Throughout the course there will be educational visits outside the school as a complement for certain subjects.
The course is aimed at different complementary profiles:
– Those interested with studies in fashion and marketing or having work experience in the field of fashion, commerce or similar.
– Professionals trained in the field of industrial design, architecture or interior design interested in directing their activity towards visual merchandising and fashion retail.
– Enterpreneurs thinking about starting their own fashion business, and in need of a training to initiate their business venture on very solid theoretical and practical foundations.
The course is particularly aimed at those who, in addition to their interest on the world of fashion and visual merchandising, want to start an individual or joint business venture. In this way, the students’ professional outcomes range from being an active part in a visual merchandising management team to coordinating of one’s own sales space.
She specialized in Visual Merchandising and Window Dressing, taking several masters in Italy and Spain. Freelance window dresser and visual merchandiser since 2006, she works with a wide range of companies that includes from textile and fashion areas to hotel management and furniture, for companies like Nike, Dedon or Grup Damm. Since 2009 she teaches on window dressing and visual merchandising in several schools of Barcelona. She also contributes with magazines on Visual and Window Dressing.
The educational planning for all IED Master courses is aligned with the criteria established by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The IED Master program has adopted a credit structure that follows the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The IED Master is a private degree.
