CSP in Jewellery Design
In the fashion world, jewellery is the ultimate accessory and the key to interpreting a collection’s concept. The CSP in Jewellery Design introduces students to the world of metal. As a design school, we apply the design methodology in everything we do. Therefore, students will study the history of jewellery, the latest trends, the characteristics of its wearers and the different materials used. Real jewels are made in the jewellery workshop using different techniques.
The purpose of the Jewellery Design course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to project and work with a piece of metal.
The course traces the entire creative process of designing and producing a piece of jewellery. It all starts with a concept inspired by both the history of art and the history of jewellery in conjunction with the latest trends in the fashion universe.
Starting from an outline and illustration of the initial idea, the process goes on to explore the materials and learn how to use the workshop tools and Rhino Gold 3D modelling software.
The course combines theory with practical experience to ensure students reach the course goals successfully.
Practical lessons take place in the jewellery workshop, where different work and production methods are applied, from melting wax to 3D prototyping, concluding with a final project that consists in producing a small collection of at least 3 pieces in the workshop.
The course is geared towards both design students and graduates, as well as professionals wishing to take on a new training experience where they can put their creative talent into practice in the world of jewellery.
Applicants will be required to submit a CV and cover letter. If any of the admission requirements are not met, the School will consider each applicant separately and reserves the right to summon applicants for an interview.
Upon completion of the course and depending on each student’s prior experience, career options may include:
– Becoming a creative specialist in the jewellery world
– Working as a freelance craft designer
