The world of fashion is in need for a profile in graphic design that focuses on this field. The Summer Course in Printing Design for Fashion prepares specialists who can work with fabric in a particular manner, sensitized on the world of fashion and trends and capable of reflecting it in graphics.

Summer course in Printing Design for Fashion


Aiming to provide a response we have conceived a course for fashion and graphic designers interested in learning about the creative process and its understanding, management and solution when it comes to a positional or continuous printing and its application to knit or openwork fabric. Students will design and produce a garment, as well as the print they wish to apply.



The course is to be developed in three weeks and consists of two parts: the first one is based on a combination of theory and practice imparted by professors with expertise in the field at IED Barcelona, while the second is thoroughly practical one that works on the fields of clothing and printing.

The first two weeks are for students to acquire the necessary theoretical contents to specialise as fashion printing designers. Subjects are lectured by a designer and graphic designer, so their different points of view can be transmitted at the time and topics addressed from both perspectives. This way, students can observe the collaboration between two professional profiles for the creation of a garment.

The final part is an intensive week at company Hallotex. At this point students have already developed a small collection and its prints during the lessons, and they can apply them using facilities and tools the company puts at their disposal.

HALLOTEX S.L is an independent firm specialized in designing and producing pieces of clothing for large retail chains. Currently Hallotex collaborates with leading distributors in the market creating its brand concept. Its structure is based in productive decentralisation, but keeping the processes for design and patternmaking internal. The company’s management is focused in mastering design and producing processes, particularly emphasizing the collaboration with clients’ creation department, responding to their demands and reactions to presented proposals. Hallotex’s current strategy passes through strengthening its design and graphic design departments and opening its own work centre in Tangier to provide a response for the whole production process, aiming to offer greater production capacity, greater competitiveness and faster delivery to their clients.

Student Profile

Students in graphic design and fashion design (who have at least passed their penultimate course or already graduated) interested in specializing as a potential fashion illustrator/graphic designer.
